I have something good to say about every live show I’ve seen, but there are a few that stick out. I saw Do Make Say Think a total of 3 times this year (one show in Toronto!) — and while I don’t know how seeing a band that many times in one year is possible (since I’ve never done it before) they managed to blow me away every single show. They were able to keep it fresh and exciting and beautiful every single time I saw them. I could have seen them six more times, I think. Sloan is my favorite to see live and they never disappoint. I will continue seeing them until they stop playing, and I hope that they are still playing 20 years from now. The Beirut/Final Fantasy show at the Bowery Ballroom was so much fun and to finally see Sonic Youth perform Daydream Nation in its entirety was like a dream come true. I hope that the upcoming year has as many great shows as this year.
